The Museum of Folk & Traditional Art was founded in 1977 by the Cultural Center of Patras in order to accommodate objects and activities of modern Greek folklore, and is housed in a building within Skagiopouleiou legacy (Koritsa str. and Mavrokordatou str.). The material exposed concerns both rural activities but also civil life and demonstartes their role in socio-economic life and development of the region.
The material is divided in sections (such as transportation, production of bread and wine, textile, etc.) in order to be educational for both students and researchers.
Traditionally operated laboratories (headwear, footwear, wax and statueing, printing, etc.) exposed periodically and have an educational destination for students.
All exhibition material as well as the library and photographic archive of the museum are designed to meet the intended purpose of safeguarding cultural heritage, being simultaneously a center of education and creativity.
