ANCIENT (ACHAIC) FARRAI
Between the villages of Prevedos and Isoma, there are traces of the ancient inhabitants of Farrai. The visitor finds himself before a number of archaeological findings like, a Roman bath, inscriptions in a cemetery in Prevedos, artificial burrows in Starolaka and Mycenaean tombs.
ANCIENT TRITΕΙΑ or TRITAIA
Near the village of Agia Marina there are traces of the ancient Achaic city of Tritaia that was visited by Paphsanias.
Sgartsiko, an ancient acropolis that was used by the Byzantines and the Franks, is near village Skiadas on the right bank of river Peiros and on a hill with an altitude of 54 metres. The walls and ruins are preserved in a quite satisfactory degree. The castle is also called Doxapatri castle, since it had obviously come under Doxapatri’s occupation who was a Byzantine General, who fought against the Francs in 1204).
Tritaia is adorned with several temples and churches, among which the Temple of Great Gods and the Temple of Athena distinguish. In the wide area, a lot of antiquity signs have been found, such as traces from cyclopean walls in Erymantheia village and the Mycenaean Cemetery in Drosia Village.
