iroo.jpgOn the hill north of the monastery of Agia Lavra, rises a unique monument for the whole nation. It is a memorial of the Revolution of 1821, for those sacrificed for the independence of the Greek nation against the Turks. The unveiling of the monument in its present form took place on March 24, 1971.

The monument is composed of three statues depicting the participation of clergy and the fighters of 1821 revolution and the Freedom of the Greek nation from the Turkish rule.
Every year, the celebration of the National Freedom Anniversary, organized by the City of Kalavrita, start at the memorial, by keeping one minute of silence in memory of those who fought, and right afterwards the national anthem is played.
